Will I ever meet a worthy companion,
as I journey along these paths,
with hearts so free as we trade opinions?
Will I ever meet that special someone,
and have a good honest laugh,
while chilling on the deck when the day is done?
Will I ever meet one I can trust,
with my secrets, stories and worries,
that won’t await with the dagger to thrust?
Oh, will I ever meet a heart devoid of tar?
So I ask as I skim through the people I meet;
Could it be he, could it be her?
So here I am still in search of a friend,
for my heart is low and in dire need of warmth,
still asking, will I do this to the very end?
True friends are hard to find. A lot of people have been hurt by people they called friends. Being scarred for life, they now have doubts of what it really means to be a friend. Never trusting again. It’s a sad situation. Others who still dare to try again, are yet to find that special person. Self-trust is even a serious challenge these days, as we cannot always predict what the issues of life may make us do next.
However, we can try to bring more sunshine into our world by spreading more love, care, warmth, forgiveness, attention, support, and understanding. Maybe that way, we could find someone to truly call a friend.
