The gardener woke just before dawn.

Stepping out to the verandah,

he sat on the steps,

waiting patiently for the first lights.

He evidently was in love.

For he has been this way

these past three weeks,

awaiting his friends in the garden.

Ahh! The first lights!

He gingerly stood up,

walking expectantly

towards the rendezvous.

He stepped quietly into the garden,

as if scared of frightening his guests.

Eyes intensely fixed on the soil,

he has for so long toiled.

Then his countenance brightened.

His long awaited friends have arrived;

Sprouting from the ground,

everywhere and about.

Oh! They look so fresh and new.

They must be thirsty coming from the deep.

But this task can’t be left just for the dew.

So he hurried for the hose to water the shoots.

This poem is about the loving relationship that exists between the gardener and his plants. It is captured this way for your reading pleasure. Do have fun ok.

All the best.
