It’s a long story,

But I will make it short;

Don’t think it gory,

For the pain still hurts.

Emotions are dead,

Consequent of love lost;

Now I lay on my bed,

Doomed to pay the cost.

My health fails me,

I will be here for a minute;

Don’t feel sorry, hail me,

I’ve been there, and I mean it.

*****

I often wonder at the effect emotions can have on one’s health and life decisions. Be it a broken heart, a mended one or a peaceful heart. This short poem portrays the delicate relationship that exists between one’s health, a broken heart and the decision to live.

Thank you for reading.

Warm regards!
